Asthma Principles and Practice Course
Become an asthma guideline implementation champion.
The Asthma Principles and Practice Course will provide a comprehensive understanding of asthma as well as practical strategies for treating patients. The 2007 Asthma Clinical Guidelines will be discussed in depth and in reference to patient case studies. This course is interactive and course certificates will be provided upon completion. Multi-choice questions, as examples of the national asthma educator exam, will form the basis of the course assessment.
The course and related materials are provided at no cost to participants. A comprehensive binder of self-study materials will be sent to participants 6 weeks in advance of the live session; the live sessions will concentrate on the application of this information into practice, so it essential to review the course binder during the 6 week period.
The course is funded through a grant from the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) of the National Institutes of Health. The NHLBI is particularly interested in the role of Nurses and NPs as the implementers of asthma evidence-based guidelines. Following the course, everyone will be contacted by the NRTC to gather best practices in guideline implementation and related activities will be tracked to showcase how they can deliver evidence-based care for asthma patients to NHLBI.
Accreditation is provided by the CBRN California Board of Registered Nursing, for 35.9 contact hours. These credits are good in any state.
